COVID-19, (coronavirus disease 2019), is a contagious disease caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2. COVID-19 spreads quickly and over one million people have died from COVID-19 in the United States.
COVID-19 often causes respiratory symptoms, similar to those of a cold, flu, or pneumonia. The virus is primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets breathed out by an infected person. These droplets can be inhaled by others, or they may land on facial features, such as the eyes, nose, or mouth. Additionally, surfaces touched by contaminated droplets can serve as potential sources of infection.
Anyone infected with COVID-19 can spread it, even if they do NOT have symptoms.
